Student Voice Editorial Club

The Student Voice is now a seasonal publication created by the ALC/ALIF Student Voice Editorial Club, through which students can participate in the editing and graphical layout of future editions.

Mission Statement


The ALC/ALIF Student Voice, is a student publication, produced by the ALC/ALIF student body. The Student Voice gives students a chance to let their voice be heard, to entertain, provoke conversations and debates, and to have their literary works, opinion pieces and graphical art published.

Editorial Policy Student

  • To edit student content for grammar, usage, clarity, punctuation, readability and length.
  • The Student Voice is a forum for student expression at the ALC/ALIF. Opinions expressed in the content are not those of the ALC/ALIF, nor of the ACA parent body.
  • Student submissions of written or graphical content must comply with the current culture, mission and ethos of the ALC/ALIF, as well as representing the target audience.
  • The ALC/ALIF Student Voice reserves the right to edit student content for grammar, usage, clarity, punctuation, readability and length.
  • The ALC/ALIF Student Voice reserves the right to refuse publication for reasons of appropriateness, as determined by the editorial board and ALC senior staff.
  • Political content will NOT be published under any circumstances.
  • ALC/ALIF Senior Staff have the final editorial decision prior to printing approval.

Student Editorial Roles

  • To edit student content for grammar, usage, clarity, punctuation, readability and length.
  • To use ALC/ALIF computers and Microsoft Publisher and templates to adapt the layout and graphic design of each edition such that it matches the edition theme.
  • To create a seasonal publication (Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring) that follows a coherent theme per edition.
  • To edit student work with integrity such that the original message of the text is respected and not obscured.
  • To respect that submitted works come from all ESL levels within the ALC/ALIF, and as such, require variable degrees of editing to bring them up to print standard.
  • To respect the identity and creativity of the students and their submitted work and not criticize student content within ALC/ALIF grounds or with other ALC-ALIF students.
  • To respect that any work published in the Student Voice remains the property of The Student Voice and of the author, and is not to be copied or disseminated outside this publication without express approval of ALC senior staff and the author.
  • To be available for editorial work fortnightly for 2 hours **subject to change.
